AAP’s claims on Operation Lotus become reality, it must initiate legal action now: Bajwa

Chandigarh, March 29:- Partap Singh Bajwa, Leader of the Opposition, issued a bold challenge to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Punjab government on Friday, urging immediate legal action as the party’s long-standing claims about Operation Lotus have been substantiated.
“Since September 2022, the AAP has been vocal about Operation Lotus, even calling for an investigation into the matter. It’s been 18 months, and yet, there’s been no closure on the investigation. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who also holds the Home Portfolio, owes an explanation for this delay,” remarked Bajwa.
The senior Congress leader highlighted the recent case of Jalandhar West MLA Sheetal Angural, who had previously claimed to have been offered Rs 25 crores to join the BJP. Angural has since joined the saffron party, seemingly validating the offer.
“While AAP knew of the internal turmoil and allegations of horse-trading, it has failed to take decisive action. This inaction speaks volumes about AAP’s true intentions,” Bajwa asserted.
He further questioned Bhagwant Mann’s characterization of Jalandhar MP Sushil Kumar Rinku and Sheetal Angural as traitors, pointing out Rinku’s defection from Congress to AAP last year.
Bajwa’s statements underscore the growing tensions between political factions in Punjab, with the AAP government facing mounting pressure to address allegations of political maneuvering.
