New Delhi, March 30, 2024 :- Delhi minister and AAP leader Kailash Gahlot appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday for questioning in connection with a money-laundering case linked to the now-scrapped excise policy for the capital, officials said.

Kailash Gahlot, 49, currently serving as an MLA from Najafgarh and holding key portfolios of Transport, Home, and Law in the Delhi government under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, is now under scrutiny by the federal agency. Kejriwal himself has been apprehended in connection with the same case.

Official sources indicated that Gahlot has been called upon to provide his testimony and have his statement recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The development marks a significant turn in the ongoing investigation, shedding light on the alleged financial irregularities surrounding the erstwhile excise policy. Gahlot’s appearance for questioning is anticipated to provide further insight into the matter as authorities strive to unravel the complexities of the case.

The summoning of a high-ranking official such as Gahlot underscores the ED’s continued efforts to probe and address instances of financial impropriety, signaling a commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring accountability within the government.
